Bedale & District Methodist Church
LEDA have supported the client and architects, PPIY Architects, in a £900,000 renovation and extension between the Church and the school room. The Church building is over 130 years old, and with steep steps and narrow aisles it was inaccessible for many visitors.
LEDA conducted a full Design Strategy – surveying the existing church and checking the condition of existing mechanical and electrical services and incoming utilities, before carrying out necessary calculations (heat loss, light levels, etc) to develop the detailed designs for mechanical and electrical services.
LEDA’s designs included PV on the roof for efficient and sustainable energy, and replacing the original, inefficient cast iron pipework to improve heating the building. The church now has new slope access and steps, a bright and airy foyer, hall, kitchen, meeting room, toilets and chapel. LEDA worked with PPIY and the contractor, Moody construction, to design efficient heating and lighting for the renovation works.
